Casing Hanger Seal Void Isolation with MS-Sealant
Challenge
KCI were asked by a major Oil and Gas Operator to provide an isolation on a cameron wellhead. The leak was observed in the B-Annulus Casing Head Seal. An inflow test was conducted and B-Annulus pressure of 232psi was observed in Casing Hanger Void area. Inflow test using A-Annulus pressure of 821psi was successful confirming leak was from the B-Annulus. This is a Gas Lift Well and is Shut -In due to this Well Integrity issue.
Solution
The B-Annulus Casing Head Seal was pressure tested & inflow tested to confirm the leak path. 2 litres of MS-Sealant 04 was deployed into the 9-5/8” Casing Hanger Void to establish the isolation.
The MS-Sealant 04 was left to cure over night under pressure. Once the MS-Sealant 04 had cured the 9-5/8” Casing Hanger Void was inflow tested using A & B Annuli pressure. An Inflow test using A-Annulus pressure of 812psi An Inflow test using B-Annulus pressure of 362psi. The isolation was successful. The well was safely brought back online.
Result
The Isolation was successful and the well was brought online safely. Our customer was extremely satisfied with our safe, effective & efficient isolation. This value adding, rigless isolation operation saved the well owner from a potentially time consuming and costly wellhead strip & repair.
